Narrative Identity

The Impact of the Story We Tell Ourselves

This experiment is designed to guide you through the process of writing three key stories — your past story, your present story, and your future story — which in turn begin to provide us with a sense of our narrative identity.

If our narrative identity is the story we tell ourselves about who we are, then change — especially the bold kind — asks us to update that story in real time.

That’s no small ask. Change challenges not only our strategies and systems but our sense of continuity and meaning. This is true at the individual level, and even more so at the organizational level, where misaligned narratives can quietly erode even the most brilliant ideas.

The exercise aims to foster self-reflection, discovery, and intentional living, helping you gain clarity on how your experiences shape your current beliefs and how you can craft a meaningful future. We've found this exercise to be reflective, eye-opening, and valuable at the least... as most if not all of us find our stories to reveal incredibly powerful self-created intentions that inspire life-changing actions.
